Ready, set, shoot!
The YPSI 24-Hour Shootout was founded in 2012 for the purpose of supporting the independent filmmaking community in Southeast Michigan. The competition offers an opportunity for area filmmakers to match their talents against their peers while competing for cash prizes and trophies. With support from a dedicated team of volunteers, and consistently generous community support, we are proud to be able to bring the competition to Ypsilanti and Michiganders for five years in 2016.
24 HOURS IS ALL YOU GET!
How It Works
The Shootout is a 24-hour time frame competition! Each participant is allowed to assemble a team and crew. At the start of the Shootout, several "ingredients" are announced. They may include a line of dialog, a prop, a location, or any other requirement for the film being produced. This element forces teams to think on their feet and not rely on pre-planned scripts or material.
Final video files must be delivered to the event HQ within the 24-hour deadline to be considered for cash prizes.
All entries will be judged by an independent jury who will award prizes to the best films in competition.
Is there a fee to compete?
Yes! The registration fee is only $25.
Does my whole team have to register?
Nope! A team must be registered under a single team leader. You can sign up
a full size crew if you've got them, or go it alone!
What are the participant requirements?
Glad you asked!
a) All footage must be shot within the 24-hour time frame.
b) All films must include all the required "ingredients" to qualify for prizes.
c) You must be 18 years to sign up. (Cast and crew can be under 18)
d) No limit on team size, but the cast & crew must volunteer their services.
e) Final films must be delivered in person within the 24-hour time frame.
